Davis Mountain Preserve

 

The Nature Conservancy opens the preserve about once a month for hikings &  horseback riding (must provide your own horse). For more information about our walks there, please contact any club member (Willard Raiffeisen 432-218-6077 or wraiff@hotmail.com)

 
March 21-23 is an Open Weekend (the puplic in allowed to use the Preserve).  Larry Carpenter and Willard Raiffeisen will be going down Fri 3/21 and return Sun 3/23. 
 
If anyone would like to go with us or come for just 1 or 2 days and meet us there, please let me (Willard 432-218-6077) know.  Primitive camping is available with restrooms & kitchen facilities  available at the nearby Visitors' Center on site.  I will be staying at the Ft Davis Motor Inn in Ft Davis (30 mi from the Preserve).  We hope to attend a star party at the McDonald Observatory on Friday night.
 
 
The Davis Mountain Preserve is only open about 10 weekends a year.  The next open weekend will be May 16-18, 2008..
